Jack is Three!

On April 16th Jack turned three. I'm really not quite sure where the past three years have gone, and I really can't believe he's three already. It seems so big to me...two was still kinda a baby, but three is not so much so. In the last few months he seems to have developed into a little boy complete with a big boy attitude!
We had Boppa and Momma over for supper on the actual night, and then had his party at the swimming pool with his friends on the Sunday, and then had ANOTHER family party back here after that. We definetly had too much cake floating around here!
He got lots of great presents...including a new bike from mommy and daddy, and TONS of the movie Cars stuff. Uncle Shawn and Aunt Nicole bought him a Cars clock...they might as well have given him the moon!

On his brand new Big Boy Bike...

Talking to Uncle Kevin and Auntie Lori in Cuba...he got tons of long distance phone calls for his birthday from all across the world! Edmonton, Florida, Cuba!

A little spit never hurt anyone...

Don't be alarmed...this IS my Mark drinking pop. Yes, pop.

A new baseball game from Uncle Mike and Aunt Sharon. He really likes it, and he's pretty good at hitting the ball...just like mommy!

Memo to Jack

Dear Jack:
I know it's hard to be two-almost-fwee, but seriously, son, let's try to keep it real. Let's try, anyways. Here are a few points to ponder...

Mommy is not your personal slave. I may be your personal chef, maid, and caregiver, but I am NOT your slave. "Get my duck", is not my favorite line, and when I ask you to ask a different way, "MOMMY, GET IT NOW!" is never going to go over well. EVER.

Stop crying when it's time to get dressed. Both of your grandmothers have spent a fortune on clothes for you, wear them. Pajamas all day long is not an appropriate outfit unless you live in a trailer park. Which we do not.

We have proven for many weeks now that you know how to use the potty. Randomly deciding not to is simply not an option. Pee and poop is not fun to clean off the floor. AT ALL.

Again, I feel I need to tell you that you are too big for William's exersaucer. Again, you will get stuck in it if you get in it. Ordering me to get you out will not have me running. You may, in fact, find that you will spend longer in it.

Putting your hands around William's neck is NOT hugging. It's called choking. And mommy doesn't like it.

Almost a whole bottle of Purel Hand Sanitizer at one time will not make your hands "extwa keen". One or two squirts is all you need, not the whole flippin' bottle.

To be honest, dumping all your toys everywhere and dumping your crayons and markers everywhere is not really playing. I know you think it is, but it's not. It's called a "Make More Work For Mommy Project". Throwing a tantrum because I asked you to clean up your crayons is not really necessary either.

When mommy and daddy ask you to use your fork instead of your hands to eat your rice, "No" is not the response we're looking for. "OK" works much better. And, we also expect you to actually use the fork.

Sometimes mommy temporarily loses her mind. Please do not feed off this. For example, if mommy leaves the roll of stamps on the table, do not make a picture for daddy with them. They aren't stickers.

Please do not bring your trike off the deck and ride it in the kitchen. Please.

Please do not scream at the top of your lungs and laugh when Will starts to cry.

Please do not ever, ever again ask the cashier at WalMart (or anywhere) if she has nipples. She does. EVERYONE does.

You definetly keep things interesting. Thank God for naptime. I love you, sweet boy. I hope the next fwee years are as awesome as the past fwee have been.

Happy Birthday, Mark!

Mark turned 33 on the 26th!! We had his family over for dinner and cake to celebrate, and he got lots of pretty nice presents! Combined with some buddies taking him out for lunch, and celebrating with his kids and family, Mark said he had a pretty great birthday! He also got to keep on celebrating on Friday with my family for dinner!
Here are some pictures of the big day!

Jack building Daddy's cake...I cheated and bought it, and spread extra icing on it for Jack to decorate. It also said 'Daddy' on it at one point, but Jack didn't feel we needed to see that.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail....

Easter was great this year, Jack is really getting into things and starting to understand. He was very into dying Easter Eggs (which does actually wash out of white sleeves with Spray and Wash), and knew when he went to bed that night that the Easter Bunny would be coming. When he got up in the morning, the Easter Bunny had left a trail of jelly beans all the way from his bedroom to his basket downstairs. Jack stopped dead in his tracks and very clearly said: "Oh my goodness. Look at this mess." Not the reaction the Bunny was looking for...but original. Once he found his basket complete with too much candy and hockey sticks, he was over the mess.

Very intently dying eggs...

Waking to a BIG trail! From his room....

All the way to the baskets in front of the fireplace!

Some Sharpe Squad Milestones!!

After our last not so up-beat post, I thought I'd post some of the fun things we've been witnessing here. We are VERY thrilled to announce that we went for William's test results on Tuesday, and he's gotten a clean bill of health. Mark and I were VERY concerned, but the doctor was able to reassure us on pretty much everything. Yay for Will!

On to the milestones/firsts....

Here is Jack having his first taste of snow. He ate for about an hour.

Jack has decided that diapers are a thing of the past! One day he woke up and said "I want unnaware (underwear)", and that was it. He has had almost no accidents (2), and is very happy to sit and read magazines about car parts and classic cars. Ugh. It's like raising another Mark!

Will is a sitter now! He appears to be reaching his milestones a fair bit slower than Jack did, but he's still doing great.

Will hates tummy time, and because of how poor his back and neck muscles were as an infant he never really spent a ton of time on his tummy. He also refuses to roll over. While most babies his age are rolling across the room, over and over again, William has rolled maybe about 4 times total. Two of these times have been since he came home from the hospital. When I put him on his tummy now though, he tries to crawl.

Trying to reach his soother...

Man, this is hard work!! Usually this when he cries, and I try to encourage him to keep trying!

It's also when Mark says "My poor little man! Let me pick you up!" Also when I roll my eyes.

Will's Hospital Visit!

A week ago Will woke up late at night throwing up. He continued to throw up for most of the night, and then started again in the morning. I decided to take him up to Emergency just to have him checked out, and they almost instantly admitted us. Our pediatrician told us that they would hydrate him through IV for 24 hours, then we could go home. Unfortunatley, Will didn't respond to the fluid they gave him, and continued to get more and more dehydrated, and was still pretty sick. He was in isolation, meaning we needed gowns to hold him, and we couldn't take him out of the room. By Saturday night, he had spiked a temperature, and still wasn't taking anything by mouth. He usually eats about 32 ounces a day, and was eating about 5 ounces a day in there. We were pretty worried. The virus he had when we went in is called Rotavirus, and we're still awaiting the results of some of the tests to see what his secondary infection was, but we're VERY happy to be home, and Will seems to be on the mend. Our 24 hour stay turned into 6 nights. He lost a bit of weight, but we're confident he'll put it back on in no time!

With daddy in the ER...

Every time I brought out the camera, Will started grinning despite feeling so crummy.

Hanging out with Daddy....

Nanny was there every day for MANY hours at a time. She was awesome.

While mommy went home to have a shower, daddy spent a few hours with Will. This was on my camera when I got back!

Momma came almost every day too! Her and Boppa kept Jack all weekend which was a HUGE treat for him!

Auntie Lori came every day too during her lunch break! Uncle Mike brought mommy a small ocean of Tim Horton's coffee, and Aunt Sharon came to visit as well.
